Privacy

Better English is a study tool. We keep the minimum needed to show you your own progress.

What we store

• Your name, email address and profile picture, supplied by Google when you sign in.
• Your exercise attempts: which exercise, your answers, your score and how long it took.
• Aggregates derived from those attempts — XP, streaks, achievements and your level.

What we don't store

• Card numbers. Premium is billed by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record; your card details are entered on their page and never reach us. We keep only your subscription status, its renewal date and the customer reference Dodo gives us.
• Speaking recordings. Audio you record stays in your browser and is never uploaded.

Analytics and advertising

We use the Meta (Facebook) pixel to measure how well our ads work — it records page views and sign-ups on this site and reports them to Meta, which may match them to a Facebook or Instagram account. Your exercise answers and AI feedback are never sent to it. You can block it with any tracker-blocking extension or browser setting without losing any part of the site.

AI features

Writing submissions and dictionary lookups are sent to a third-party language-model provider to generate feedback. Don't paste anything confidential into them.

Deleting your data

Delete your account yourself under Account → Danger zone, or email us at contact@betterenglish.net and we will do it for you. Either way your account and every attempt attached to it go, with no retention period and no backup copy kept afterwards. Billing records we are required to keep for tax purposes stay with Dodo Payments.
