Throughout history, art has questioned authority, explored taboos, and forced societies to reflect on their values. The most impactful works are often those that provoke discomfort or controversy. Whether through performance, painting, or digital media, art must be free to push boundaries and stimulate critical thought—even if that means offending some people.
Freedom of expression is essential, but so is accountability. Some works of art cross the line into hatred, obscenity, or cultural insensitivity. Just because something is labeled ‘art’ doesn’t mean it should be immune from criticism or consequence. Artists operate in a social context, and with creative freedom comes the duty to consider impact, especially in diverse societies.
