Teachers are calling for a ban on the sale of energy drinks to under 16s, because they contain 1MOUNTAIN amounts of sugar and caffeine. This means they can cause 2AIL such as headaches and heart palpitations. One of Britain’s largest teaching unions, described the drinks as providing 3ACCEPT high sensory stimulation. Consequently, they can trigger bad comportment in the classroom and school yard. A reduction in classroom 4ATTENTION has also been noticed. It comes after translational researchers based at Teesside University found that energy drinks were being 5EXTENT marketed to children for less money than water or fizzy drinks. Research further found that one in three young people say that they 6ORDINARY consume energy drinks. A single 500ml can of the most 7DESIRE brands on the market can contain around 160mg of caffeine. The European Food Safety Authority, however, recommends an 8TAKE of no more than 105mg caffeine per day for an average 11-year-old.
