AGame Theory
Originally developed to analyse competitive situations in economics, Game Theory studies strategic interactions where the outcome for each participant depends on the choices of all. From politics to evolutionary biology, its applications have expanded far beyond gambling or chess. The concept of the 'Nash Equilibrium' — a scenario where no player has anything to gain by changing strategy — is central. Game Theory has even been used to understand nuclear deterrence, pricing strategies, and online algorithms. Its fundamental appeal lies in its ability to model rational decision-making under conditions of conflict or cooperation.
