The notion that digital screens are inherently detrimental to children's cognitive and social growth is, in my view, fundamentally misguided. What matters is not the medium itself but the calibre of content being consumed. A child engaging with a well-designed educational application is exercising problem-solving skills and creative thinking in ways that traditional toys simply cannot replicate. Critics who cite alarming research findings to bolster their case are, more often than not, drawing on methodologically questionable studies that fail to distinguish between passive consumption and active digital engagement. Parents who impose blanket prohibitions on screen use are not only fighting an unwinnable battle against technological progress but are also potentially depriving their children of valuable developmental tools. The hysteria surrounding this issue bears little relation to the nuanced reality.
