Rather than relying entirely on standard photosynthesis, it catches its own fresh meals. The leaves form a hinged jaw lined with sensitive trigger hairs. If a wandering insect accidentally brushes against two of these tiny hairs within twenty seconds, the trap snaps brutally shut, creating an inescapable prison. The plant then slowly secretes specialized digestive juices to completely dissolve the trapped victim over the course of ten days. Because false alarms waste valuable energy, the trap will refuse to close if only a single hair is touched by falling raindrops.

When severe dehydration sets in, it tightly curls its brown leaves into a protective ball, essentially dying and entering a state of complete suspended animation. Within just a few hours, the seemingly dead branches uncurl, turn a vibrant green, and actively begin photosynthesizing again, leaving observing scientists constantly amazed by its supreme resilience.
