Last Friday, I had my first (0) REAL job interview. I had applied for a part-time position in a small bookshop near the university, and to my surprise, the manager called me to arrange a meeting. Although I was excited, I was also very nervous, and I spent the whole week for it.
My older sister gave me some useful advice. She told me to arrive early, dress smartly and, above all, to try to come as confident and polite. She also reminded me to prepare a few questions of my own, as employers often appreciate candidates who show real interest.
On the day of the interview, I arrived ten minutes early and waited quietly in the corridor. When the manager finally invited me , my hands were shaking. He asked me about my studies, my reading habits and why I wanted the job. I tried to answer honestly and not to too long on any single question.
A week later, I received an email saying that I had got the job. I could hardly believe it! I learnt that preparation and a calm attitude can really the difference.
