Two nights later, on a mountain in Switzerland, Jack Maldini skied across the snow. It was after midnight. Jack picked the lock on the front door and went into the chateau. Very quietly he went upstairs, two steps at a time, and he came to a room on his left. He realised that was Rialmo’s room. He went into the room. He looked around and saw the safe in the corner. He moved to it and tried the door. He gently opened the door and took the packet out. Rialmo continued to snore. He left the way he had come and went out into the snow. The cold wind felt great on his face. The moon lit his path down the slope as he smiled to himself.
