Decide which job would be most suitable for each person.
1. Nicole
Nicole, whose brother works at the local car wash, spent the summer helping people in need, and is looking for a job to earn herself some extra pocket money. She wants something that involves children, as she wants to study to become a nursery teacher. She spent two years living in London and wants to put her languages to good use.
2. David
David, who spends a lot of his time playing with his dog, likes working outdoors, so he wants a job that would suit him. His dad has said that he can use any of the tools or machines they have at home, so David is thinking of finding a job looking after his neighbours' homes in some way.
3. Nina
Nina wants to be an English teacher, and would like to buy a car. That's why she wants to earn some extra money, but doesn't really want to travel too far from home. Her mother needs help with the housework, such as washing, cooking, cleaning and ironing. Nina also likes things to be perfect.
4. Thomas
Thomas plays chess after school, and would like to find a job that doesn't take up his evenings, as he needs this time for homework and studying. He wouldn't mind working outdoors, but it would be great if he could find a job that involved working before school starts in the morning. He doesn't have a bike.
5. Sally
Sally, whose dad works for the local newspaper, has some free time, as she only has college from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., and she would like to earn some pocket money. She would love to be able to keep fit at the same time. She loves animals, so she would like something that would involve both of these things.
We need someone to deliver newspapers to the homes of our customers. The work would be done early in the morning, starting at 6 a.m. when the newspapers arrive, and finishing at 8 a.m. This job would be perfect for someone at school. We supply the bike.
Why don't you do some little jobs for cash? We are looking for someone to clean cars for the people who live in this area, and you can earn some useful money doing it. The best part of the job is that you can do it whenever you have enough free time. You will need your own equipment.
We are going to make some changes around the house because Mum can't be expected to do everything. A list will be made of the work that needs doing around the house, and a price will be put on each job. Then, if you want to earn some money, you will need to do some of the jobs on the list. The work needs to be done well.
Do you like animals? Are you keen on looking after them? Why not help your friends and neighbours out by walking their dogs – twice a day, in the morning and evening. There is no better way of getting in shape and having fun at the same time.
There are many people that need help with things such as shopping, going to the chemist, cleaning their homes, or cooking. You could be the person to give them a hand with these things and earn some money at the same time.
Help out with children between the ages of 5 and 10. Keep them entertained with fun and games while speaking in English, and earn yourself some pocket money. A good level of English is required for this job.
If you are good at doing things around the house, we may have the job for you. Cut the grass, look after the flowers and clear the leaves in your neighbours' gardens to earn some extra pocket money. You will need to have your own equipment.
We need people to come and help us after school has finished, with the children that go to the after-school club. They need help with their homework and studying, and you will feel very satisfied when you do this work, and make lots of new friends.
